Inspiring Dreams, Changing Lives: Addosser MFB Empowers Over 300 Girls at the Teen Girl Child Conference

On Saturday, June 28, 2025, Addosser Microfinance Bank proudly participated in the Teen Girl Child Conference in Lagos — a transformative event themed “Live Your Dreams: The Path to Ultimate Fulfilment.” With over 300 teenage girls in attendance, the conference was a powerful celebration of purpose, resilience, and possibility.

The event provided a well-rounded experience for the girls, covering key areas such as mentorship access, personal and career development, menstrual hygiene, and sexual education—all aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to make informed life choices and chase their dreams.

The program also featured inspiring sessions from notable speakers, including Veekee James Atere, a globally celebrated fashion designer who rose from humble beginnings in Ajegunle to international fame. Her story of overcoming adversity resonated deeply with the girls, encouraging them to stay focused and dream boldly.

Our very own Temitope Afolabi, Group Head, SME, also took the stage to motivate the attendees. In her words, “Your background does not determine your destination. Your dreams are valid, no matter the path you choose.”

As part of Addosser MFB’s long-standing commitment to empowerment and education, two pillars of our 4Es Social Impact Framework, we made a tangible investment in the future of five exceptional girls by awarding ₦100,000 educational grants each to support their academic journeys.

We also provided free sanitary pads to every girl at the event, reinforcing our commitment to health education and menstrual dignity, an essential aspect of girls’ well-being and school attendance.

This wasn’t just an event, it was a catalyst for transformation. The mentorship, life skills, and essential resources provided will leave a lasting impression on the lives of these young girls.
